Empirical Studies on Road Safety Products and Their Effectiveness
Road safety products play a critical role in reducing accidents, but their real-world impact often requires detailed evaluation. Street Matrix, in collaboration with the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), conducted a comprehensive study to assess the effectiveness of Kataline Pvt. Ltd.'s road safety products. This study aimed to provide insights into their performance and safety benefits, particularly at crash-prone locations.
The evaluation focused on key products, including:
Rumble Strips (2 component cold plastic road marking material Plasti Rib 2K): Analyzed for their size, thickness, and configuration to determine their impact on speed reduction across various vehicle categories.
Augmented Wet Reflective Dot (AWRD) Markings: Tested for enhanced visibility under wet conditions.
Audible Vibratory Profiled Road Marking: Studied for its tactile and auditory feedback to improve driver awareness.
Cold Plastic Road Markings
Transverse Bar Marking (TBM) InfluenceThe study also explored the influence of Transverse Bar Markings (TBM), assessing how their size and thickness contribute to speed reduction and visibility at high-risk locations.
Additionally, the research modelled the relationship between TBM thickness and noise levels, alongside evaluating the safety impact of profile markings. This collaborative effort highlights practical, data-driven recommendations for enhancing the design and application of road safety products to improve overall safety outcomes.
